Step into spring
Spring is the ideal time to refresh your beauty look: we reveal how to get to grips with contouring, and guide you through the latest colours for lips and eyes
Spring is here, and the good news is that you and your skin have made it through the toughest part of the year. Winter, with cold temperatures, wind and rain, not to mention the stress of central heating, can be brutal on your skin. But now that you can see the light at the end of the tunnel, why not treat yourself to some great new colours, and refresh your make-up look? It can be daunting to try new things, but there’s no better time, and with our guide to the latest looks and colours, you can step into spring with a glowing complexion and fresh, radiant skin.
CONQUER CONTOURING
Contouring is a great way to highlight and accentuate your best features to enhance and emphasise your complexion, creating a gorgeous glow in time for spring and summer. Contouring and highlighting is easy to achieve with the correct products. What you’ll need:
- BB cream
- A powder brush, rouge brush and eyeshadow brush
- Highlighting powder
- Two shades of powder blusher
1 Begin by applying the BB Cream (in your desired shade to suit your complexion) to your entire face, blending into the neck and out to the ears so you are creating an even, flawless base or blank canvas to start. We recommend Benecos BB Cream which comes in a range of shades to suit all skin tones.
2 Next, use highlighter powder; Benecos Highlighter Powder contains illuminating and light-reflecting mineral pigments to create the perfect balanced glow, and is best applied with a Benecos large powder brush.
3 Swirl the brush into the highlighter powder and brush on the following areas:
- The apples of your cheeks, brushing upwards to the cheekbones and out to your temples – this contours and highlights your cheekbones
- The bridge of your nose but avoiding the tip – this thins your nose
- The eyebrow bone and just below your eyebrows using an eyeshadow brush – this lightens and gives an instant brow lift illusion
- The centre of the lips and Cupid’s bow – this adds dimension and volume for a fuller pout and shines through your desired lip colour.
4 Now it’s time for the two shades of blusher. We suggest Benecos Toasted Toffee Powder Blush, which adds warmth and contours and enhances your complexion, and Benecos Mallow Rose Powder Blush, which has warm peachy tones.
5 Using a Benecos blusher brush, lightly swirl into the Toasted Toffee Powder Blush, tap away excess powder and apply under the cheek bones blending towards the centre and outwards to the temples and hair line. Shake off any remaining blusher, then swirl the brush into the Mallow Rose Powder Blush, tap excess powder and apply to the apples of your cheeks to add a burst of colour to finish the look.
LUSCIOUS LIPS
A flattering, springtime lip colour is the quickest, easiest way to brighten and refresh your make-up look. If you want a natural, light effect, go for a nude lipstick shade, such as Benecos Rusty Rose, Cream or Peach. If you’re feeling more adventurous and want to go bright, a ravishing red lipstick shade such as Benecos Marry Me, Dark Red or Silky Tulip is ideal.
ALL ABOUT THE EYES
Spring 2016 is all about pastel pinks, light browns and baby blues, and these colours look fantastic at this time of year in the fresh spring light.
Add a subtle amount of glamour and definition to your eyes with these top three spring shades:
- Benecos Duo Eyeshadow in Clouds
- Benecos New Quattro Eyeshadow in Coffee and Cream
- Benecos Mono Eyeshadow in Fairytale
And don’t forget to add mascara to complete your look! We suggest Benecos Natural Mascara Maximum volume in Smooth Brown.
