Oat Porridge With Goji Berries and Cinnamon Recipe
Oats and goji berries are full of slow-release energy and fibre, and both contain nutrients to help support a healthy nervous system. They are also considered to be natural sedatives, helping to lift low moods and calm the nerves. The addition of cinnamon and black sesame seeds provides a warming quality that makes this an excellent dish if you are feeling weak or are convalescing.

Ingredients
- Butter, for greasing
- 225g (8oz) medium oatmeal or porridge oats
- 700ml (1 and a quarter pints) rice or cow’s milk
- 1 tbsp maple syrup
- 25g (scant 1oz) goji berries
- 1 tsp ground cinnamon
- 60g (2oz) sunflower seeds
- 25g (scant 1oz) black sesame seeds
- A pinch of salt
Method
* Preheat the oven to 190°C (375°F/Gas 5). Generously grease a glass or ceramic ovenproof dish with the butter. Place all the ingredients in the dish, mix well, and bake in the oven for 30 minutes. After 15 minutes, check the porridge and stir, adding some hot water or more milk, if it is sticking or becoming too thick and solid.
* Remove from the oven, divide between four serving bowls, and serve with a small jug of warmed milk.
