Celebrity Health – Jeff Brazier

TV presenter and life coach Jeff Brazier talks to Liz Parry about the wellness practices that keep him physically and mentally healthy

Jeff Brazier is a TV presenter, author, life coach and advocate for mental health awareness. He has presented a raft of TV shows including This Morning, OK! TV and I’m a Celebrity...Get Me Out of Here Now! Aged 45, Jeff has two sons, Bobby and Freddy, from his relationship with reality TV star Jade Goody, who died in 2009. Jeff and Freddy recently appeared together on the BBC TV show Celebrity Race Across the World.

Q Tell us about some of the health and wellness practices you follow to look after your own health and wellbeing.

Jeff: For me, health is so important because if we don’t have our health then we don’t have anything. A big motivation for me has been my boys. When they lost their mum, it was like, “I need to be here for them.” I was already someone who exercised regularly, but that event pushed me to look beyond just exercise. It made me think about how to look after myself emotionally, spiritually and therapeutically. I’ve really enjoyed the pathway that it’s led me on.

Q: Meditation is a big part of your life. How did you get started, and what has it done for you?

Jeff: I’ve been meditating for about 18 years now. A friend told me about a meditation course, and I decided to give it a try. My teacher was incredible. He was so relaxed and aligned, absolutely comfortable in his own skin. I was curious about what gave him that peace. He introduced me to satsangs, which are gatherings where people meditate and listen to talks. It was just a room full of ordinary people, from all walks of life, but they were so full of love and able to communicate themselves fully without limitation. I walked through the door and just felt that sense of contentment. It felt like a really safe and easy environment to be in. I loved it and I’ve been doing it ever since. Meditation, for me, is about self-kindness – healing yourself from the inside out.

Q: You’ve recently become an ambassador for the supplement brand Revive Active. Could you tell us a bit about this?

Jeff: Well, I’m 45 now, and I’m looking after myself from a spiritual, holistic, emotional point of view. I’m doing a lot of exercise, I’m going to therapy and I’m reading all the right books. But I guess I’m looking for other areas where I can make those marginal gains, and supplements were a natural step. I take Revive Active every morning – it’s part of my routine – and I find that it gives me consistent energy throughout the day. I’m also keen to try Revive Active’s new Calm and Sleep capsules. They help to support relaxation and a restful night’s sleep.

Q: What sort of exercise are you doing these days?

Jeff: My exercise is mainly the gym. I walk a lot – I’m one of those people who’s always tracking steps. I’ve always played a lot of padel and golf, but since getting a knee injury I’ve had to take it easy on that. Cycling is another favourite, though the weather hasn’t been ideal for it lately.

Q: Tell us about Project Walks, the initiative you set up.

Jeff: I started Project Walks during lockdown when a lot of people were feeling isolated and struggling to bring themselves back into the community. It began with small Sunday morning meetups at a local coffee shop and grew to over 100 attendees. I think the benefits of it go far beyond just exercise and fresh air. From what I’ve seen over the years, there are so many wonderful conversations that take place. They’re quite free and liberating for people, because it’s so much easier, for some reason, to open up to a stranger than someone you’re really close to. And I guess the other value is that nature is abundantly healing. When you’re walking around a forest or a green space, it can make you feel relaxed enough to talk about things. Also, you walk shoulder to shoulder, rather than in that formal face-to-face situation that people find uncomfortable at times.

Q: We loved watching you on Race Across the World with your son Freddy. What was that experience like?

Jeff: Those five weeks of memories, travelling around South America, were really special, and I’m incredibly grateful for the opportunity. It taught me a lot. I was probably too competitive at times, focusing on speed and efficiency instead of soaking up those once-in-a-lifetime opportunities. But those reflections are part of what made it so special. It wasn’t just a TV show; it was life changing.
