Independent health store advice for Mother’s Day gift ideas
Looking for advice on natural health and wellbeing? Your local independent health store can offer a wealth of knowledge and expertise. This month we speak to Suzy Shinner from The Good Health Boutique in Retford, Nottinghamshire
Independent health stores are good places to shop for Mother’s Day gifts because you get more of a personal approach. Also, you’re more likely to find something a bit unique and special that you wouldn’t necessarily find in a large chain store. I think, now, a lot of people are focused on nourishing themselves and recognising that what we put on our bodies is just as important as what we put in our bodies. Also, at the moment, I think everyone’s in need of a bit of pampering!
Natural beauty and skincare
A set of natural skincare products would make a lovely present for Mother’s Day. All of our products are natural, free from chemicals and fillers and cruelty-free. Lots of them are organic too. The Dr Hauschka range includes bath essences, shower creams, body milks and creams in calming lavender and nurturing rose. There’s also the Evolve range, which is made from natural and organic ingredients. Their Discovery Boxes contain three products and make lovely gift options. Another nice natural product range is Bathing Beauty, which includes hand care and foot care kits, body scrubs, body oils and bath salts. They all smell amazing and are full of really good natural ingredients.
We offer an option whereby we can make up gift boxes of products to send out directly to customers. We know that lots of people can’t meet with their mums this year due to the lockdown restrictions, so we’re trying to make life as easy as possible for people.
Vegan goodies
A box of chocolates is a traditional Mother’s Day gift, and we are big fans of the organic and vegan truffles from Booja Booja. We also stock Montezuma’s chocolate, which comes in a range of flavours and has some vegan options. We have lots of vegan products from skincare and make-up to personal care products. We feel that you shouldn’t have to compromise on delicious, lovely things just because you’re vegan!
Eco-friendly and sustainable products are becoming more and more popular with our customers. People are definitely considering the environmental impact of their purchases a lot more. Things like shampoo and conditioner bars, handmade soaps, bamboo hairbrushes and combs all make good gift ideas. We also stock some really nice beeswax wraps from the Beeswax Wrap Co with Emma Bridgewater and Cath Kidston designs, which are both stylish and sustainable.
Aromatherapy oils are another great gift idea, particularly for mums who need some pampering and relaxation. We stock aromatherapy diffusers, essential oils and some lovely vegan candles made from plant wax. We particularly love the Tisserand Little Box of Happiness which contains three essential oil blends that are designed to be uplifting and positive. I think everyone needs a bit of happiness right now!
